Christy will be discussing “Let the Little Children Be Bored?” Have you ever heard a child complain that church is boring? While some ministry experts claim it is a sin to bore a kid in church, others say we should let our chronically overstimulated children experience boredom. What should adults do? Make church more entertaining? Tell kids to embrace their boredom? Before we act, perhaps we should try to understand what causes children’s boredom—and what prompts children to engage. Dr. Christy Lang Hearlson, an award-winning professor in the department of Theology and Religious Studies at Villanova University, will help us investigate what our children’s boredom is telling us—and what we can do about it.
