Saturday, October 29, 4:00pm – Arthur Sjögren Memorial Concert at FPC
A memorial concert is being planned by the family and friends of the late Maestro, Arthur Sjögren. Art was a world-renowned choral conductor known and beloved by many in our community. As Director of Vocal Music at New Canaan High School from 1975-2008, Art formed the New Canaan Madrigal Singers and led the ensemble on 23 tours around the world. In 1974 Art founded the Pro Arte Singers as the first fully professional choral group in Fairfield County and served as its Director until 2017. From 2010 to 2020, Art was Artistic Director of Charis Chamber Voices in Westchester, New York. All of these groups performed in our sanctuary. In addition, Art served as our own Interim Director of Music in 2015.
The concert, in loving memory of Art, will include performances by Pro Arte Singers, Charis Chamber Singers and more. More details to come!
