In HSYG, MSYG, Youth Group Activities

The 30 Hour Famine, a weekend for hunger awareness, is one of First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan’s BIGGEST and longest-standing traditions for our middle school and high school youth groups.

The weekend begins with fun and fellowship on Friday night at SkyZone Norwalk. We will eat pizza for our “Last Supper” before beginning our fast. Saturday will be a Day of Faithful Service, with two events scheduled. “Supermarket Sweeps” will take place from 11 a.m.-noon at Acme Markets. Each team will receive $100 and a list of what is needed by the New Canaan Food Pantry. Go! Then, from noon-3 p.m., we will make sandwiches and prepare food bags for the homeless at Open Door Shelter in Norwalk followed by a tour of the shelter and food delivery. During 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, we will present the non-perishable items for the food pantry.

Please RSVP HERE to let us know in which events you will be participating: one, some, or all! We also will need drivers for our Saturday events. To participate fully, you should start your fast after dinner on Friday and drink only water until Sunday lunch. If you are active in sports, or simply cannot complete the fast, please be mindful of what you eat during the weekend as we help others in New Canaan and beyond.
