The “Women In Leadership Lunch” shines a bright light on the Connecticut Yankee Council-Boy Scouts of America’s mission to bring our premiere youth development program to more girls and young women in our community. The Women In Leadership Award honors women who contribute their time, energy and talents for the betterment of our community, stand out as role models of exemplary leadership and citizenship, and who exemplify the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law.
Tucker Murphy: Administrative Office for the Town of New Canaan
A resident of New Canaan for 34 years Tucker is very well known in New Canaan for her years of community service including her current position as Administrative Officer for the Town of New Canaan. During 2008-2020, Tucker was the Executive Director for the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce and completely rebuilt the organization, which now is a robust and vital partner to the local business community. Tucker has served as an elected official to the Town Council and is a member of the New Canaan Board of Education.
As well as her term on the Town Council, Tucker is the current Chairperson of the “Tourism and Economic Development Advisory Committee”, a Board member for the League of Women Voters, a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a past member of the National Charity League – Canaan Parish Chapter, Past President of the Kiwanis Club, inaugural member of the Senior Internship Committee and served on the Board of the YMCA. She has been actively involved as a Girl Scout leader, a President of the South School PTC, serves as a Justice of the Peace and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. All of this combined gives her a great foundation from which to lead the Chamber and to serve the Town of New Canaan. Tucker is married to John Murphy and they have two children aged 32 and 29, a daughter in law, and one grandchild.
