On July 29-August 6, our the HSYG of First Presbyterian Church travelled to Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska for an extraordinary mission trip–one of the best ever for sure! We worked with children from the Church of God Refuge program (reuniting families under grace). All week we took these kids age K-4th grade to see many of the natural landmarks of their native land (Iditarod Museum, Reindeer Farm, Alpaca Farm, on a hike, etc) and then we played sports and spent incredible quality time with them. We called it an Adventure Camp. We had a “buddy system” so that each child was matched to an FPC adult or youth. In essence we put on a big brother or big sister program, and the results were very impactful. We cannot wait to tell you all about our adventures, but here is a little taste of the “best of Alaska 2017.”
