Our HSYG and chaperones went on an amazing pilgrimage to Iona this summer to participate in the Iona Youth Festival. We’ll be posting a day by day “report” with a few notes and photos from the experience – stay tuned!
Iona Summer Pilgrimage Report – Day 5
Greetings from the isle of Iona!
Today was a busy day for all…we completed an off road, all day, 8 mile pilgrimage around Iona. We made multiple stops and had flapjacks and tea along the way. A highlight included lunch at the beach where St Columba landed (Columba bay) and where the kids collected precious, colorful rocks.
The weather was not as glorious as yesterday…it was rather gloomy and wet but that didn’t dampen any spirits.
After a delicious meal of pasta and meatballs, which the boys devoured, the kids met with their clans to discuss “values”, participated in a “Healing Worship service and are now watching a movie (Selma). They’ve been promised Scottish hot chocolate.
It’s been another day of adventure and everyone will sleep well tonight!
Best, Chaperone Donna Hill
