  • Alaska – July 29-August 6, 2017
    • – open to HSYG only (those who have completed 9th-12th grade)
    • Click here for LINK FOR ALASKA MISSION TRIP APPLICATION – deadline to register is Dec 15th, 2016 Dec 31st, 2016.
Materials received after Dec 31st will incur a $100 late fee.
We have already paid installments on these trips; it is imperative we have correct
      numbers and deposits.

Nature of service: The camp we are staying at serves children whose parents can afford to send them to camp. We are taking the camp “off campus” to help children from low income homes. We will provide a VBS camp, a sports camp, (and will probably do a book drive and/or a sports clothing and cleats drive), as well as serve in a food pantry, homeless shelter, and a free store (handing out clothes to those in need).

Recreation: It gets dark very, very late in Alaska, so we might end up playing Frisbee golf at 10pm, or relaxing by an outdoor campfire. This is a place to un-plug! No Starbucks and McDonald’s on every corner here. Rather, salmon, moose, and deer are the scenery. It is called God’s country and the Last Frontier for a reason. On our day off we will go sea kayaking, hike, and take a glacier cruise.

Cost: Total cost is $2000 (includes a $1100 fee to Thirst Missions, round trip airfare on United ($700), meals, and bus to and from airport.)

$1000 deposit is due at time of registration.

$1000 remainder is due by March 1, 2017.

If a youth needs a scholarship, the church has the opportunity to provide financial assistance to youth who have true financial need. The family will be asked to submit a scholarship application, provide financial records, and submit the request for review to the finance committee. The average gift is $500.
